Thread Starter | Are 10.25" R30 Batts as good as 703/705 type insulation?
I'm looking at getting Johns Manville R30 10.25" batts and putting them in some kind of frame, straddling them across my corners as opposed to using Compressed board as I can't find the stuff where I am. What would these R30 Batts be equivalent to straddling 6" of Owens corning or the like, across my corners? Should I build a soffit or superchunk out of these Johns Manville batts instead of straddling? Thanks...

I assume you mean will they perform as well acoustically. The answer is... maybe, it depends on the thickness of the rigid fiberglass you are comparing it to. I was once told that there is about as much fiberglass in a 1" thick slab of 705 as there is in 12" of the fluffy stuff. Also the fluffy stuff is harder to build into a coherent panel and look good.
