Thread Starter | Small controlroom question
Hay everybody. I fanally after 35 years got my own room!! Dont worry im not italian and live at home still ![]() Room is 10'5 m2 My question is this: Since its a small room is it advisable to use qrd difusers on the back wall flanked by basstraps and may some movable ones at recording positions. Or should i simply just bass trap as much as possible? On the picture i have put filledbookshelf as difuser, but plan to put in a couch and qrd difusers or basstraps instead. The round things are half plastic boubles intented to be used as difusers in the cieling over a recording position. I have moveable basstraps build in IKEA shelfes on the sides. Traps behind the speakers and superchunks in the corners aswell. What i read about smallroo. Difusing in different forums is that the room will be so small that the delaytime of the difused sooundwaves wont be noticable but wha say thee mighty soundgurus? Kind regards tha happy family man |

That looks like a pretty good treatment plan. I would focus on the diffusors last. I don't think they would do a lot in a room that small. As you're treating the room, make sure you're testing the room while placing traps. Get those built, and if you're having certain problems afterwards, we'll see if the room will benefit from diffusion then. Good luck. |

Set the monitors up to fire down the length of the room. It's not perfectly square, should help.

I agree.... diffusion (assuming it's good quality diffusion that works well) is "icing on the cake" in a small room, and not essential to good sound. While it definitely can help a room's sound, other steps (like bass trapping, early reflection management, etc.) are much more important. If you have all these other bases covered, and still have budget for diffusion then by all means go for it. :-)
