Thread Starter | I have a bar in my studio, but it is made of glass.
I'm currently doing acoustic optimization in my new studio. I'm soon finished with all the basstraps, broadband absorbers and clouds. But i have a huge problem. I have glas in front of me, and glass on my backside as well. When i listen to my monitors, it sounds like the higher frequencies is boosted a lot. No wonder with all the glass. But i need to do something about it soon, and i am looking for suggestions. I really love the fact that i can turn around, and walk 3 meters, and pour myself a drink, so i'm thinking about taking down the glass bricks, and rebuilding the bar as a big acoustic element, and put the old top plate back on. The question is, should i make it as a big diffusor, or a absorber ? Or even a combination perhaps? Here is a picture of the glass bar: ![]() And here is a picture of my mixing spot which is on the opposite side: ![]() I have just built 16 absorber panels, and 3 clouds, and because the bar is on my backside when i mix, i think about making it into a big diffusor, but i am unsure if it is the best way to go. What would you do ? |

Agreed, nice desk! Cover the glass with absorption, and clear the beer cans / misc items unless you're trying to used some kind of tuned diffusion. |

The only reason I wouldn't be so sure to make it a diffusor is because its right up against the floor. I don't know whether this would be a good or a bad thing.. I think a nice, large 1D diffusor there sure would look great though! |

I will rebuild it, because i want to move 20-30 centimeters longer into the room. I need some storage space for vacuum cleaner and such, and behind the bar is the best option i got. Beer cans and misc items is the result of building acoustic panels. It will be nice and clean when all is done. Right now the studio is not in use. I'm currently installing clouds, so everything is mover around at the moment. Btw: Standard Argosy desk. Love it, one of the best investments i've done for the studio. | |
