Thread Starter | Minimal treatment - 2 broadband panels
I've been recommending broadband absorbers as a more useful upgrade than converters, preamps, or even mics. One of the common responses is a complaint about the lack of a dedicated recording space, another is asks about the minimum useful treatment. I've been fooling around with up to four 4'x2'x4" panels in various configurations, basically looking for a little local reflection control from a low cost, stowable configuration. The one that seemed to work best is a pair of panels in a V behind the mic(s). I did a little video demonstrating the effect: Just Two Broadband Panels - YouTube and a blog post with a little more commentary: Just Two Broadband Panels | Homebrewed Music This certainly is a cosmic breakthrough. Several vendors address this niche, but it seems useful to do a refresh on a simple idea like this. Fran

Nice video! Also you can point out that when those panels are not being used they can store them in the corners as bass traps. Talking about videos, start the following one around 3:30. It is music recorded with and without treatment. GIK Acoustics. Treated and untreated listening room video.
