Thread Starter | Quick studio orientation question / sloped ceiling
My ceiling slopes down on one end about 17" Not sure of the angle… Should I make this the front of the studio above the monitors or the back wall? Thanks ![]() ![]() |

Setup against the bottom of the sloped wall. Room dimensions would help to clarify further though. Normally you want to be firing down the long end of the room, but symetricality is crucial and that slope is an asset.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but I've had the same question. I have ceilings that slope from 9' down to 7' on both sides. My room is 13'x15' with the slopes on the long walls. Didn't know if it was better to fire down the long wall or face the slopes

Thanks for the response nms It is currently set up to fire the long way. You're lookin at the back/ front curved wall from the side. The room is 14.10' (length) x 11.2' (width) x 8' (height) The curve comes down 17" from 8' over the course of 3' Will it help significantly if the curve is above the monitors? Would it be detrimental to the sound if the curve was at the back of the room? -- freedomrock - as nms says, fire down the long way |

You guys both sound like you have some great rooms. You definitely want to set up so that the shorter wall at the bottom of the slope is your front end where your monitors are placed. By doing so you won't have problems with low freqs gathering in the corner above you where ceiling meets wall and bouncing directly back at you.
