Thread Starter | Which is better? Lower frequency N11+2 or a combination of N11+4 Normal & Inverse
Hi there, I'm building 4 QRDs for my studio. As I rent, I want to design panels that will be effective in a variety of small and medium rooms. My current space is approximately 3.5M x 3.8M with a 2.8M ceiling My proposed design is: N11 panels: Maximum Well depth 150mm Well width: 45mm Divider width: 4mm Period Width: 539mm If I use an N11+2 configuration I get a design frequency of 729Hz However if I wanted to build some inverse panels to mix it up and have them all be the same depth, then I would need N11+4 which would have a higher design frequency of 940Hz My question is: Which is better? 4 x N11+2 @ 729Hz... Or a mixture of 4 x Normal and Inverse N11+4 @ 940Hz... The panels will be hung on the rear and side walls as my room is used for mixing and tracking. At the moment only have space to place up to two panels side by side. Thanks. |

could you squeeze an N13 in (considering your width constraints)? the lower design freq would be better (N11+2) - i dont think you have a need for inverse panels merely for "mixing it up" unless you have multiple periods in an array and need to adhere to the barker code. | |

Thanks for your reply, i have decided to use 6mm MDF to increase rigidity. I need the panels to be as close to 600mm wide as possible so I now have two options: Build N13+4s with 41mm wide wells Or N11+2 with 49mm wide wells Which would be better? Given that the N11+2 would also require a little less cutting and sticking. |

Sure. But isn't there a point where wells start to get too narrow and can cause problems? I thought that occurred around 40mm?
