Thread Starter | My Super-Chunk Design
So I had been thinking of how I was going to do my super-chunks. I wanted something that wasn't permanent yet fairly easy to make. So what I did was make a frame out of 1x6, but had 45 degree angles so it would fit flush in the corner. I just cut the top and bottom pieces at 45 degree angles so the long side was about 24". Then I wrapped the frame tightly in fabric and filled it with 24x17x17 chunks top to bottom. The weight of the chunks keeps it well planted, but you could attach the top to the ceiling if you were nervous. Here's how they look (sorry, crappy iPhone camera...): ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This is pretty sweet! I like the way they take up the entire corner and the color man should be awesome

That looks amazing! What did you use for fabric?

It's broadcloth. It's tighter weave than something like burlap/jute, but still fairly breathable. It's probably keeping some of the highs in the room, but I'm good with that.

Thread Starter | That would actually be really cool to do with an LED light. Mount the trap an inch or two off the wall and light it up from behind. They have those kinds of lights for the back of TV's that are supposed to reduce eye strain. Would be a really cool way to light up your studio - like super wall sconces.

Yes, It looks nice. Did you try to measure the difference between with and without these absorbers in your room?

Thread Starter | Not yet. I will shortly once I actually finish the room. I had some mixing that had to be done, but now I'll finish putting on trim (and a door), add some more trapping and measure to find the best spot.

Excuse me for my impertinence, but if you can make a room measuring only those absorbers. I would be very grateful to you because I care about what makes these absorbers. Just I want to know.

Also, could you estimate how much rockwool you used? Thanks, and great job by the way! | |
