Just finished my studio room, and....

I was hoping that someone would give me some feedback on the layout I'm putting together for getting the room tuned. The room is 10 x 12 x 9 foot walls, so not a ton of space and I'm intending this to be mostly a personal studio after being off the road about five years now. Basically, I'm working on trying to get a solid control room, that has some space and a good tuning to do mostly acoustic stuff, maybe occassional electric. I'm going to experiment with building a drum trap/separation area in my storage room next door, but mostly this room will be for getting into the digital world of recording vs. the 2" analog and patch days I was working (unbelievably) just about 10 years ago.

The room is in the basement, and it's thickly carpeted with a nice thick pad. The fact the carpet and pad are thick, and the room is pretty standard and just framed out with regular insulation and drywall (note there's an 8" concrete wall on the other side of my 24" frame), I'm leaning towards not trapping the ceiling, but using the layout attached. Any feedback is appreciated, and hit me up with questions.

1. Make measurements.

2. Based on these, decide on a “goal” and identify what needs to be done.

3. Redesign your planed treatment based on your measurement and your increased knowledge (that you got after reading some of the existing threads in this forum … )

4. When asking specific questions about treatment; include measurement results (Freq, ETC, waterfalls etc, and why not post the actual impulse file) otherwise no one can give you any useful advice.

There are some good threads on how to make measurements you can check up if you haven’t done this before.
