MY Micro Diffusor/Bass Trap BUILD

Hey everyone,

In anticipation of my new Focal Twins on their way, this weekend I built some Micro Diffusor/Bass Traps to go behind them and want to share the build with you.

2 Feet by 4 Feet and 8"thick of OWC703.

Placed in the room with my current set up, the low end already sounds MUCH clearer and tighter than before - So much so that I might build a second set this weekend. I say "micro diffuser" because the front side design came from my need to keep the top end open and not so "stuffy" sounding, since I have alot of broadband absorption and some bass traps in my room already.

These would work great in a live room as a "dual purpose" gobo as well, since the back side (see photo) is covered with fabric and open. Giving you the option of "dead" and "controlled"

P.S. Please excuse my picture taking! Seems to have some "wobble" effects - maybe my camera angle, definitely not the units though!

Nice, Kyle. Those are sweet looking. Did you do any calculations on the wells?

Hey thanks Frank.

I didn't calculate these particular units as I knew I really just wanted to tame the low end response and not kill the top end in the process. In the future I plan to use the QRdude to make a deeper or "more diffusive" (if thats even a term lol) diffuser for my back wall where the wells are calculated a little more in depth.
