Thread Starter | Absorber Panel directly behind speakers ?
Should there be an absorber panel directly behind my speakers where I mix , placed on the wall ? I'm pretty close to the wall . I was looking around at pics on the net and I saw an absorber panel placed above the speakers on the wall and leaving the area right behind the speakers open . Are the reflections on the front wall not bad because they're hitting my ears the same time as the speakers ? |

(I am not a pro but) I think it depends on your room. High frequencies from your speakers will be quite directional, so you won't get significant first reflections from that wall, only after reflecting off other walls first. The time delay and strength of those reflections depends on the size of your room and amount of absorption in the rest of the room. You don't want this reflected sound to be too loud or too close in time to the direct path sound. Its probably not going to be a problem. Side walls and ceiling are more important for absorption for this purpose. Bass frequencies are a lot less directional, and probably the easiest way to tame low frequency issues is with bass traps in the corners of your room. So in short, I don't think absorption on that front wall would make a big difference. Unless you are recording in the same room and want a deader sound.. |

Maybe, maybe not. See the following article to understand SBIR. Learn what is SBIR (Speaker Boundary Interface Response).
