Question Help choosing rockwool in New Zealand.

It is acoustic treatment time. There is no 703 in New Zealand but I have found rockwool through Bradford.

I am looking at bass traps for a small room in treating the low room modes. Can you suggest the right type of wool from here:

Bradford - Products

An advice is appreciated.

Sorry I don't have the time to hunt down through there website, but do they have rockwool, mineral wool or rigid fiberglass? If so post a link and we can take a look.

Fibretex 350 Industrial Rockwool. Acoustically equivalent to 703.

You are too right! I moved here from the UK about six years ago. For two countries with a reasonably similar climate, there is a massive gap in home efficiency.

I believe were looking to get double glazed windows sometime next year!

I hunted for OC703 with no luck, but the similar spec Bradford Fibretex 350 is available from lots of places. Got mine from Forman in Petone.

Yup I went to Formans in Penrose. They had an excellent selection of Rockwool which I purchased and a direct Owens Corning equivalent which I purchases also

Hey guys,

Was just wondering how much formans was charging for rockwool per panel.

I have found some autexs AAB for $28 dollars a panel from potters in penrose. Which has similar acoustical properties as rockwool but with the advantage of not needing to be wrapped.

Cheers

Hi Autumn

I'm in Auckland.
I use a product from Forman's called 'Novahush'.
It's rigid polyester semi rigid insulation designed for acoustic treatment. Comes in 25mm, 50mm and 100mm thick, 1.2m x 2.4m panels. I used it for building bass traps and smaller mid range absorbers in my studio. Works great.
Forman Insulation located in Mt Wellington.

Regards
Amos

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Do you have any acoustic data for the novahush? I have searched high and low on the internet with no luck.

Cheers

its 36kg per square meter made from polyester which makes it much nicer to work with than the fiberglass equivalents
