Schroeder Frequency for Small Rooms

If you use an untreated room's RT and volume to find the Schroeder Frequency and it gives you say 300Hz. Then you treat that room, add some absorption, that's going to drop the RT time and drop the Schroeder Frequency. Is the effect of the frequency dropping a reality, or is it just purely a theoretical?

I'm thinking in terms of diffuser and absorber design, i.e. frequency ranges

(I already know RT is not really applicable to small rooms)

I suppose it depends on how the Schroeder Frequency formula is derived.

Any ideas?

I think I've answered this myself! If RT isn't applicable to small rooms, then neither can the Schroeder Frequency....

Actually the answer is yes. The Schroeder frequency deals with modal density, not reverberation. The reverb number is used as an indicator of decay rate. Yes, the confusion from acoustics using reverberation to describe phenomena that is clearly known by everyone to have any, as normally defined.

Don Davis suggests FL=3*c/Lmin,

Where c is speed of sound, Lmin is smallest room dimension.

There was mention of this on Studiotips forum/John Sayers

I'm just looking for a guide really. If I'm looking to absorb or diffuse early reflections I need an idea as to what frequency they are likely to start at.
