Will this work instead of Rockwool?

http://www.knaufinsulation.co.uk/PDF...%20PD74208.pdf

For framed panels, broadband and bass traps.

Anyone tried it?

I just looked and did not see any kind of absorption lab number so I would saw NO. Maybe someone else on here knows for sure.

EPS board won't work. Look for glass fiber or mineral wool.

In the states, the cotton insulation is available and works, but is harder to deal with.

Looks similar to Celotex insulation, which is closed cell foam. Acoustically not very useful at all, keeps you warm though!

I was in contact with a company today finding out what would be the best way to treat my drum room from neighbors and think the rockwool might be the best solution in my case. The shipping is free and the price is not bad. Check them out for yourself.

I think the man I talked to was Garnet. Good luck.

I agree. Closed Cell won't work. Sound won't be absorbed by it. Why aren't you choosing Rockwool anyway? It's cheaper then so many alternatives which aren't as effective.

I am using Rockwool. I was just curious about other materials. I have had some health issues and they started when I installed my rockwool traps / panels.

Oh right.

Your not using it exposed are you? Cotton covers work really well and they manage to keep the fibres in for me.

Probably coincidence - unless you are exposed to a lot of loose fibers on a regular basis (like you install it for a living or use it uncovered and brush against it a lot) then the health issues are just about non-existent. You have to get a lot of it in your lungs over a long period of time.
