Does anyone have any experience with this?

It looks like something I can build out of a little wood and 703. I was talking to a sweetwater rep and he suggested that by the time I build one, I would only save $100. This thing is $400. LMAO, he also said they have scientifically treated this stuff. Not sure if that's true. Is there some type of superior way they have built this thing that makes it more than just absorption panels?

I can get 12 2'' panels of Owens's Corning 703 here in Atlanta, GA for only $112.00. I'm sure the wood would only be a few bucks in comparison.

Is it worth it to purchase something like this for recording vocals or should I just take a little time and build something like it?

By the way, I only record vocals and just need to get a clean sound with out the room's echo. I already have blankets up for a makeshift booth, but looking to do something more permanent and sturdy.

To me $400 doesn't seem overly outrageous for something like this. Sure you
can save quite a bit of money by making it yourself and if you can, and can
spare the time, go for it. If you had to pay someone to build it, and have it
look like a commercial product, the price would go right back up.

If you have decent carpentry skills, you can build six 2'x4'x4" panels for about $250 in materials, and treat a good portion of a small room.
