sonotubes

have any of you used sonotubes to make polycylindrical diffusers? if so, how did they work out? hollow? filled? capped? thanks for the help.

You might want to start by trying the search tool...

But a simple question: why bother with Sonotube, which is more expensive compared to such material as inexpensive thin and flexible luaun plywood, and more limited in its available diameters (and thus the radius of the resulting poly), and more difficult to work?

And if you desire diffusion, and not simply specular scattering, why not explore the wonderful QRDude tool...

I'll have to agree with SAC on the difficulty of dealing. I'd imagine attempting to cut one down would be problematic.

I'm happy with my polys given the cost involved. I'd have loved to build some 2d diffusors, and probably will some day, but the polys did make a difference in my live/practice room.

yeah, i did search. found some stuff about polys but not sonotubes.

i appreciate the advice with the wood. i will try that route instead. cutting them in half i thought would be the biggest problem. thanks again

just to add to this, for full disclosure, an entire half of a circle would make a less than ideal poly. Numbers vary, but a general concensus seems to favor roughly a 1/3 of the circumference.
