Thread Starter | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Size = ~21'4"x19'x7'6" Also the size of the next door room = ~26'x23'x10'6" *excuse the mess. also I have Adam A7X monitors on order so ignore crappy rokit 5's as well. The room used to be a garage, but it was turned into a room. The walls are mostly fabric with fiberglass insulation behind it. The wall with the gold colored fabric in the picture with the door just has polystyrene insulation behind it. The ceilings just have thick blankets on them hanging down. Carpet floor. ![]() I use the room for everything, even for recording drums. I like to open the door and put a room mic in the other room which has a gigantic reverb. It is a pretty dead room, but it isn't really properly treated. What can I do?

My internet is very slow right now so I can't see the pictures, but you can test the room with the following program. Room EQ Wizard - REW Home Page

It's not just Glenn's internet...those pics are HUGE. Any chance you could size them down? There's really no way to see what the room looks like. Frank

Well, you need a lot more bass trapping in there...I suspect you know that already. The problem is all those soft walls, the soft ceiling and the soft floor. Your decay times are already way out of balance, and I'm a little hesitant to add more high frequency absorption. If you're going to make bass traps, you'll want to leave the FRK facing on the face of the panel then wrap in fabric...or put something else reflective on the front. You'll want to do all the usual thing: corner bass trapping, back wall bass traps (6" or more), maybe wall/ceiling bass trapping as well. You don't need to do the reflection points (obviously). Is there anything I could do to add some reflections back into the room? Maybe build some wooden strips with diffusion and attach it onto the wall? Should I get some plywood to put down on the floors? How thick? With the ceiling what if I just filled the area between the blankets and the ceiling with rigid fiberglass, would that work well as a bass trap/drum cloud? Which specific bass traps should I look at? Can I just have some rolls of rigid fiberglass in the corners? The walls and ceilings are just panels, so it would be pretty easy to make some panel traps. It's just really confusing. I don't know what to do or what specific things to buy. I read this guide on it, but it is still really confusing. |
