Thread Starter | What is pink fluffy stuff ?! And where to get OC 70x in EUROPE?
Hi guys! I will be attempting my first DIY treatment for my new room in my new apartment. I just LOVE it, high ceilings in ''roof-top-half-triangle'' style... I dont want to get too technical at first, just make some bass traps and reflection stoppers to get a feel on the process, see how they turn out, cost, measure before/after, etc. Further on I'll do a full spectral analysis with a specialized friend and start properly... or just buy it out. So quick couple of questions if anyone care to answer... - what exactly is ''pink fluffy stuff'' I read about? - health issues with exposed rockwool ? - where in Europe can one find it? ebay, google... ![]() - since the first go at it will be for fun, any cheaper alternatives? I have loads of space above my head, but not so much on the side walls, what would be the best option for ''thinest possible early reflection tamers'' ? Thanks in advance! |

The answer to what you are asking overall is that "pink fluffy stuff" is regular home insulation. It is amongst other things the cheapest. "Pink fluffy" comes from the color that Owens-Corning makes their home insulation. Andre

thanks Paul P ! On the last post of the thread link you posted, someone suggested Black Mountain Insulation They're also UK based. they openly say they have the best prices, thermal and acoustic ratings, above all other man-made fibers, and completely safe for health. I'm going to contact them to find out more, what should I be asking for to get a good idea if its worth it? |

Local availability is always the issue. In Ireland I can readily find many varieties of pink fluffy, although the sheep tend to be white..... Knauf, Isover, Rockwool, Eco Wool or the B & Q version of Eco Wool. ( Eco Wool is recycled plastic bottles, no absorption data available, so that's only a guess that it would work, nice stuff to handle though) Semi or slightly rigid panels can be hard to find. Try to find a HVAC/Industrial supplier. RokSilk RS60 or Isover High Performance Duct Slabs = 703 approximately. RS100=705 approximately. DD |
