Super chunks with faced insulation?

I'm about to buy insulation for my super chunks. I found a great deal on a 1'-thick fluffy Certainteed R-38 fiberglass (at Menards $26 for 8 4'x8'x1' after a mail-in rebate). The one thing that might be an issue is it's Kraft-faced. My question is is it OK to layer Kraft-faced fluffy insulation in a super-chunk? Is it better when all pieces face the same way or should I turn them paper to paper, fluff to fluff? (for a 2 foot thick chunks of fluffy insulation with double the Kraft paper in between). Thanks.

I believe that they recommend removing the Kraft. I did have the same question myself. I could not find any test, proof or theory why. However, without paper they work very well, I am very sure you will be very pleased with them. This design is excellent. Thanks for the links. I am pretty much set in the design itself, still tweaking some things but for the most part have a pretty good idea of how I want to make mine.

How do you remove the Kraft? Just rip it off? Does it come off easily? Slice it off with some of the fiberglass?

Thanks, Glenn. By the way, I read in another thread that in your opinion fluffy stuff is not the best for the corner chunks (mine will be 24x17x17). Do you think 4 pcf rockwool is better?

Well you can use fluffy stuff and it will work and some people (that I respect) say it works better then 4 pcf. BUT I have first hand experience with 4 pound in the lab and know for a fact it does a terrific job so I recommend it. Bottom line, either way you go would not be "wrong".
