Fabric That Passes Air from Air Conditioning?

For my new studio, the front wall has a rather ugly looking air conditioner. While not being aesthetically pleasing, it obviously serves a rather important function as the summer draws near.

Is there a fabric that can be made in to a cover (the ac has a remote so it'll never need to be touched) that will pass the air from the AC? Will Guilford of Main do this ok? Or is it best to leave it alone?

Whatever fabric you put over the grill will impede flow to some degree. And it will also work as a great dust/lint trap.

No, I know of no fabric suitable to cover air vents that will not impede flow and increase back pressure on the system or act as lint filters.

An open weave speaker grill cloth could be used if positioned several inches in front of the AC grill allowing air to flow under and around it without impeding its flow ...but that would be the closest to a solution that I can think of short of installing a frame with louvered/shuttered doors.

-or, based upon your moniker, you could set your tube amp in front of it and allow the AC to cool the unit while it obscures the view with glowing tubes.....

wait now.

are we talking an a/c vent in the wall, or a huge piece of electrical equipment, like say a split a/c?

either way, you could use/build something like this:
