Im trying to decide which types of diffusers & absorbers to go with

My bare (tracking/live) room is bright & reflective.. it almost echos. In treating it I have been advised to keep it diffuse.

I want to DIY some floor to ceiling corner bass traps to begin with, and Im not sure if;

a) I should make them with a membrane on the front (paper,cardboard etc) to reflect some mids and highs?.. or
b) not bother because the room is so bright anyway it would be hard to kill?

Would 4inch thick, framed insulation covered in fabric etc say 450mm approx 1.5 feet wide (glued, fixed) across the corners be any good? I have space issues and still want to fit a full band it after all this.

When it comes to diffusing, do I mainly concentrate on any wall that has a 'parallel' wall opposite? and also which type of diffuser to make for 'low budget performance'.. there seems to be so many types.. block types angled panels etc.. should I make x sized square panels and scatter them or should they be floor to ceiling also?

Thankyou in advance.. I plan to start making them asap even though I have no idea of they're designs as yet

if your room is so small that a band only just fits in it then you'll probably want a fair bit more absorption than just a few corner bass traps. diffusion may or may not be effective in your room.

i can tell you what the experienced board members are about to request of you: give us more details. room dimensions would be a good start.

i'm up in brisbane and am in the midst of making various absorbers / diffusors / gobos. it's been pretty useful in improving the room so far, and i'm probably only 1/4 of the way through my plans.

For the corner traps I would use a membrane if you can and it will NOT keep the room overly bright.

You want them to span 2' across the corner and use rigid fiberglass or mineral wool. If using the fluffy stuff you can do that but I would fill the full corner with it.
