Quick question about bass traps, where to place them?

This is a ******** question but I saw a couple posts where you guys have made bass traps that are in free standing frames not hung on walls. Then I have also seen the one where the guy has cut pieces into triangles and framed them in the corners of the walls (pretty tight

wanted to know what you guys think my best option would be for my room. I did not know if I could make them and sit them on the ground near the wall? or if they should be in the corners like the acoustic foam bass traps they sell?

I was about to buy some bass traps from the foam factory but was told that making my own would be a much better idea.

Anyways here is a pic of my room

Thanks 4 the input

You want the bass trap in the corner. Not just near the corner, if that is what you are asking.

Yeah the foam ones go in the corners of the ceilings and walls and such but I have seen some being made that look like people are just setting on the ground near the walls. Big 2' by 4' by like 6" frames filled with insulation.

I would assume you place these on the walls or something but like I said it looks like they are putting them on the ground in the general work area?

ALSO another question I have is, WHat is the main thing that takes the bass out of the room, is it takin from the vibration from the wall or space? Is it very important to have the bass traps cover as much surface area off the wall as possible?

The bass (or sound in general when talking about broad band absorbers) is reduced by the the wave hitting the trap, exciting the air particles to move in the space of the trap, and creating friction as the air moves with in the trap. Hopefully I explained it so that it makes sense.
