low ceiling - can i put rockwool above it?

the ceiling in my control room is very low (8') (bad times, i know!) i have treated the ceiling with acoustic tiles but im worried as i think i need bass traps above me?

My question is can i make up for it elsewhere? i have a 12 inch gap infront of a beam from the ceiling down infront of my listening position that i could fill with rockwool and hold it up with a frame. The area above the ceiling has not been boarded out - should i fill this with fluffy stuff?

At the moment i have a 10" thick 3' x 2' rockwool trap opposite the control room window (filling in the opposite window) thats covered in jagged acoustic tiles, but i may change these to bad panel type facing to liven it up???? i'm 4' away in listening position and heard you can sit closer to these?)). I also have two foam traps 3' long in the two corners behind my head.

my instinct tells me to do all of it but i would like to maximise space. if needs be i can though as i want to do the best that i can as everywhere ive recorded around here seems to have bypassed this sort of thing

This forum has really opened my eyes (and ears!) and i would love any help anyone could give me

dave (the yard studio)thumbsup
thanks to your forum i have made 10 2'x2' bad panels (3' thick high density rockwool) and put 6 on the ceiling and four on the sloped areas before the ceiling above the wall) i have pictures u might post - they have saved my life it sounds really balanced now!

yes

Placing fluffy fiberglass above your drop ceiling will help with LF absorption. If you have a foot, loosely fill the cavity and at least do the perimeter of the room.
