Low ceiling treatment for drum OH

So I have a low ceiling, 7ft, just regular sheetrock, painted. I desperately want to use my Coles 4038 as a mono drum OH. It's a small kit, 4 piece, 20" bass drum, one ride and one crash.

My question is this, with the Coles' figure 8 pattern how much treatment do I need above the mic? Just enough to cover the area where the mic is located or a larger area above the entire kit?

Hi, yes I have, they sound good to me, I don't a lot of experience so just wondering what I might be missing by not having any treatment. I'll continue to work without as I like the results.

I recommend you cover the whole kit.
Also try the mic lower down facing the kit from the front or even behind.
This way the figure 8 will null out the floor and ceiling.
