Thread Starter | help with frames for basstrap
I got some 4" 2X4 RW4 to make some basstraps but unfortunately I'm not very good at DIY and the thought of trying to build a frame from scratch scares me to death. I note a lot of folks recommend frames from IKEA but I cannot get to our local IKEA and the delivery charge is 60pounds! Do I really need frames? The traps are for a home studio so I would be happy to just cover with fabric and rest against the walls. If I really need frames can anyone recommend any wood frame packs from retailers in the the UK (other than IKEA)? |

If you can get it to all hold together without frames, you'll be fine. Some companies sell bags with zippers that you can just throw the fiberglass right in and zip it up.

| Easy 1hr Trap and Cloud You can do this! It's easy and there is step by step instructions. Give it a go. Very cheap also. |

Very nice Ron! I cannot get hold of felt that cheap though - its gonna cost me 40GBP for the material, then a staple gun, wood, time messing around cutting and making frame. I think I'd rather just pay a few pounds extra and go for the 'ready bag' route. I know an American company sells 'ready bags' for $29.99. Is there anywhere in the UK or even Europe I can get these bags (or something similar?) |

Dont make the mistake i did and buy thick wood because now its impossible to hang on walls. DOH! My dad helped me build them (12) total with 2" rockwool. It definatly looks nice and sucks the reverb out of the room but so heavy i have to sit them on the floor until i can find stands for them. My best advice would be to put the rockwool on a 2x4 piece of chalk board type material (home depot makes them in the exact size and very lightweight and useful when you might need more reflection). Then just wrap them in a cloth of your choice, screw some picture frame wire to the back and hang! I also put cube foam on the back in the corners to leave a 2" space in between the wall and the trap. This worked for me and i might have made it more complicated than some but my room sound is no longer a bouncing mess of frequency. |

For hanging you should try the ooks hooks. I believe the website is OOK | Professional Pictures Hangers. Also I did a LAME video with them
