Thread Starter | Small 1' corner traps? L shaped corners?
I'm dealing with a small room with dimensions of 6' 5" wide x 9' 8" long, with 8' high ceilings. My guess is the biggest vertical standing corner traps I can fit up front would be 1x1 because of the close proximity of my monitors I'm already sitting a little too close to the middle of the room with this setup, so it seems I should avoid anything that's going to push my monitors and mix position closer yet to the middle of room. My front end is all windows with a gorgeous 21st floor view that I'm covering up unfortunately, so I'm trying to do what's necessary while still hopefully leaving a little bit of peripheral view. Should I bother with corner traps like this on my front end? Here are my 2 options for my front end as I see it: 1: 1x1 vertical standing corner traps, with one big 3' high absorber made of 6" Roxul Safe n Sound spanning the distance between them. or 2: one big 3' high absorber made of 6" Roxul Safe n Sound spanning the entire 6' 5" distance of my front wall.. with 1' wide side panels placed against them forming an L in the corner giving a bit of a wrap around effect. This method would put more material in that region, but would give different surface angles in the corners of course. If I can get away with the first option though it'd be nice because it would leave me at least a bit of my view out the side windows (since I'm already covering up most of the front window space). What's my best option here? Oh and I'm guessing that regardless of which option I go with, a corner trap widthwise along the front ceiling would be a worthwhile idea? |

A room like that needs as much bass trapping as possible. There's no short cut. Small traps won't do enough. --Ethan

thanks for the reply Ethan ![]() the 1x1 traps still give me a 16" face.. I am just limited spacewise on my front 2 corners. I can also corner trap all along the front ceiling as I mentioned. Won't using a 6" thick, 3ft tall wall to wall trap behind my speakers help make up for the slightly smaller corner traps? |

Nothing makes up for insufficient bass trapping. If you post a photo of the front of the room, maybe I'll see something to suggest. --Ethan |

Ethan is right that making them that small is not the best idea, but if that is all you can do then it still will help.
