Thread Starter | cloud on concrete ceiling
Hey guys, Would like to install a cloud over my drum kit. The problem is that my studio ceiling is concrete and since I rent it I do not want to do too much damage to it. Are there any products (besides foam) that are light weight and could be glued to the ceiling? I wish they made some 4" rigid acoustical tile. I think from being exposed to too much 703 my body is sensitized and I break out in a nasty rash yuck! Anyone have any luck with ultratouch on the ceiling? I suspect that it's not as easy to work with as RFK. Can you even drill through that stuff? Would like to glue wood strips to the ceiling and secure the ultratouch with fender washers. I also have some 2'x4'x4" framed 703 bass traps that I could use for the job (but that would mean I would need to build more for ceiling to corners). Would I be able to use concrete nails and hooks on each corner of the bass trap? Anyone have any better ideas? Thanks |

| Small concrete anchors and eye hooks are probably the way to go. Build a frame and fill it with 4" OC703 and cover it with cheap fabric. See: Flying Cloud construction -tINY |

Perhaps this can work? (6mm metal wire) |

Lupo, That's a cool idea. Looks like each board of 703 is supported with 2 wires. No sagging? |

| 703 is ridgid enough not to sag on its own. You only need framing if you want to attach it to something instead of just setting it down. -tINY |

Assuming I decide to fly my 2x4 bass panels from the ceiling, can I use regular picture frame D-rings, s-hooks, eyelets for each corner of the trap?

| I'd use closed screw eyes with #10 thread or heavier. #10 Large Steel Eye Screws LR206 by Mintcraft at HardwareAndTools.com -tINY |
