when would usings oc 705 be better than using 703?

hi

just curious...real traps use 705...gik uses 8 pound density mineral wool. is the idea that since 705 and 8lb mineral wool absorb less than the lighter counter parts that you can get more of the material in the room?

also would one use 705 versus 703 to target specific ranges (or q's) of frequencies?

would it be a good idea to mix and match?

looking forward to responses (particularly from ethan, glenn or brian p)

The idea is 705 and 8 pound will absorb a bit more low end when the panels are less then 6" thick. You can though use any of them for bass traps or general decay panels.

How thick does the panel need to be to kill flutter echo?

2" will generally be enough.

are you talking frequencies below 125hz?

seems that according to bob golds chart and the oc charts 703 absorbs a bit more than 705...regardless of the thickness. just a little confused about this.

aside for dealing with bass issues...when is 705 preferable to 703

thanks

Neither is broadband preferable to the other (acousitcs pun there). It depends on the design.

The number from Bobs sight is "A" and "E" mount testing which is different once you start straddling corners and yes I am talking below 125hz.
