Thread Starter | Hindged bass traps for corners with doors
Hi all, I've been working hard on my "studio" - actually the front room of my house. The room has doors at both ends and is approx. 13.6' x 8' wide and 8' tall. I had originally planned on building stands for the corner traps....but then I thought I should mount them. The traps on the back wall are in 1"x4" pine frames with 4" of rockwool. The dimensions of the larger panels are: 8' high x 2' wide and the narrow corner traps are 7.5' high x 16" wide. I'm still assembling 4 more large panels each 6" deep: two more 7.5' x 16" corner traps for the front room (I know 2' wide would be better...but my room is very small...and this would push the mixing desk out too far). And two super traps 7.5' high x 2' wide & 6" deep. The ceiling has three aluminum panels that each hold 2' x 5' 2" thick 703 fiberglass. I had mistakenly called them diffusers in an earlier thread...sorry tINY and Glenn! (I didn't even know the difference at the time...& I received these ceiling panels as a trade for some other gear). I've been planning for over a year and my room will soon be done. I wanted to post pictures for others to see and to say thanks to the many (Glenn, Ethan, tINY etc) of you who have helped me greatly! I still have much to learn...thanks! Aaron |

I have seen the hing thing before, but to be honest I can't see how it would work smoothly all the time. Maybe so but........................ The nice part about putting them on stands (or feet) is you can move them and use them for other things when recording. Good luck though on making it work and be sure to post pictures.

Hi Glenn, Don't worry...I'm making some traps on stands as well. I only mounted these since the room is so small (13.5 x 8 feet). I usually record on the weekends (after I do my day job) and the doors are my front entrance and the panels have to be flat on the wall. This way they can be quickly pulled out in seconds and moved to get through the door. I'll post pictures of the entire room when I get it all set up. I'm trying to make it the best as I can with the limited space. One day perhaps I'll buy a bigger house and make something even better. Cheers, Aaron |
