Thread Starter | Gator Board What effect would putting Gator Board on my walls? I'm still battling with the acoustic in my room, it still flutters, so I'm thinking if putting up heavy curtains and printed artworks on Gator Board would absorb some of the mid/high freq. |

| You should use tried and true materials and techniques. More here: Acoustic Basics Much more still here: Acoustics FAQ --Ethan

| For all intents and purposes, Gatorboard and the other foamcore variants are reflective and we have used it to fashion reflectors and diffusors. "A Multi layer composite of extremely dense and durable polystyrene foam that resists crushing and denting. Topping the core are several Thicknesses of plastics, papers and adhesives, creating a moisture-resistant layer that helps form a rigid board that is resistant to bending or warping." And at $79 per 3/16" x 4' x8' sheet, or $316 per 2" thickness, it is hardly inexpensive. And unless you simply wanted to use it in an angled manner to deflect reflections - it would not diminish flutter echo at all (as it is not a significant absorber). And there are much less expensive means to do this. |

| I guess you could build a poly with it, but I have zero experience with that material.

| It would work great for polys (or as a printed surface), albeit expensively. If that is the desired use, I might suggest checking out a material such as 3/16"x4x8' 'finished' luaun plywood at ~$10 a sheet, instead. |
