Hi all, I've been lurking here a while, and I finally decided to do some treatment to my room based on the advice here and elsewhere - so a BIG thanks to the contributors here, the advice has made a massive difference to my little studio I squeeze into a tiny room (2.65 x 3.25 x 2.38m with one truncated corner). There were some obvious problems, and of course my mixes struggled and rarely translated to other systems successfully. I wanted simple and cheap. I've attached a pdf of the basic plan I roughly followed, as well as some SketchUps of the room currently and what I'm thinking for the next stage. I used rockwool (430 x 1350 x 60mm per batt) that I got for the local hardware store (Bunnings). The front corners a 1.5 batts tall (~120mm thick) and stand about 250mm off the floor. The front panel is 860 x 675 x 120mm, whereas the side panels are 860 x 675 x 60mm. The panel on the door is 1350 x 430 x 120mm. I'd love some advice/thoughts on what I'm proposing (shown in yellow) - or some suggestions on what I should be doing different. For the back corner I'm thinking on simply using a whole pack (6 batts - 430 x 360 x 1350mm total) wrapped in calico with a light frame for shape. Should I do something on the truncated corner? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Scott |

Looks good to me. couple things 1)You may find that more corners will need to be covered but what you have is a good start. 2)I see early reflection points covered on the left and right wall but you want to hit the ceiling also.

I think you need to do something about that angled back wall. It's getting close to the listening position. I would spread some pads over there. I don't think you need to overdo it with a big superchunk on the back corner by the door.

Where is your head located in that diagram? It looks like you're right at 50%. Don't do that just to get your monitors a couple of feet off the wall..the cure would be as bad as the disease. Frank

2) I would like to hit the ceiling but its a rental, so my fixing options are limited. Do you have any suggestions there? Quote:
Yeah I thought the angled wall might need a look. Cheers, Scott

Yeah. It's real bad, mmmkay? It's about the worst place you could possibly put your head. Ideally you want your ears located 38% of the distance from the front wall. Of course, in a room as small as yours, there's not much actual distance between the 38% point and the 50% point, but you'll be better off moving forward some. Frank
