Need some advice - about to buy, is this worth it? Saw these on a local classifieds website ksl.com - Classifieds for Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming i'm looking to get some more acoustic treatment, and have been thinking about building some bass traps (which i'll probably still do) but i'm wondering if this is a good deal, and if these little round foam circles actually do anything in terms of acoustic treatment. It looks like I can get 2,000, 3" round foam circles for $150. Please acoustic treatment gurus, you're my only hope. Yes or No? Thanks

| If you could stick them one to another making different heights it could work a bit, but not much. I think it is in similar league as yokes that you use for egg packaging.

I didn't see any link for performance metrics. Have you? Without these, I would spend my money instead on a known commodity with established characteristics to buy or build.

Foam is only good for high frequency absorbtion and at 1/2" thickness it will not do anything for low frequencies. IMHO, this will be a waste of wall surface where you could mount real absorbers and perhaps diffusers. I also doubt it would be possible to glue the pieces together to make a thicker panel. Foam is not the best surface for adhesive to cure and glue. Also, it's mentioned that the foam is "closed cell type", which is unsuitable for absorption.

Thanks for all the information everyone. I've just recently been researching and learning more about studio acoustics and happened to see these for sale. I think I will pass on these and build some bass traps, and I already have some auralex foam that I purchased previously. And yes, the idea of sticking all those foam pucks everywhere is dreadful. Thanks again! John
