Cheap and nice panel fabric

I understand that the fabric covering panels and bass traps can be the most expensive element for the DIYer. And burlap isn't all that nice looking.

I have used this IKEA fabric for building my traps. It comes in 140cm width which gives a lot of fabric per running meter and the price is really cheap. The fabric breaths fine, stretches just as much as needed to tension properly, is thick enough to support the rockwool panels and almost impossible to tear. And it comes in different colors to play with. And it is more than half the price compared to the few other options I had localy.

Now, I know I sound like an IKEA salesperson but that's not true.

I will show pics of the trap made with this soon enough (technical difficulties with internet access at home).

IKEA Fabric

I use "IKEA Ditte". It's even cheaper and works well. It's "only" 140cm wide while "Lenda" is 150cm but that's enough for my panels.

I've been thinking of using denim. I'd prefer bleached/worn denim but all I've
found so far is the regular dark blue stuff that we all hated back in the days
when you had to wear out your jeans yourself before they looked presentable.

I think a combination of light-coloured woodwork around a light blue denim
panel could look pretty good as long as the room was painted to match. Also
I think denim would be pretty good at keeping fibers out of the air and would
be easy to clean.

Paul, I'm sure if you search, there are many ways to bleach or "distress" denim to make it work the way you want. I used to be a bit of a denim artist back in the 80's.

So where are the photos OP?

Promise to post a thread with the construction of the panel and pics of how it looks now over the weekend.

would denim be breathable enough for broadband panels?

also, how about ikea's ditte and lenda? breathable enough?

thanks.

I use this IKEA | Meterware & Nähzubehör | Meterware | AINA | Meterware , it was recommended by Mr. Bieger, the guy who built the "Dope Traps". It passes the "Breathing Test", is available in 3 colours and looks quite nice.
