SE reflection filter - does it really help prevent all frequencies? Bass to?

Welcome to sE Electronics

Does this really help prevent low frequencies as well as high?
I have a room that is pretty dead, but I do still have problems with some reflections and a little bit boxy, boomy vocals. -What I have now is glassfiber behind me in a "diamond" shape, I also have a glassfiber-cloud above me and the mic when recording. I do also have wooden walls and sealing.

Is this thing a good complement to get rid of muddy, boxy vocals?

Small

Those things are small so I would expect a small result!
Fibre panels work well.
Have you tried turning around, singing into the V?

No it is not designed to help low end at all. If you are getting a boxy sound then you have to deal with the room with bass trap. You could build something like our screen panel with is 4" thick and well help the over all room sound though.

not going to claim to have scientific proof

but I just got rid of mine and hope I never see one again. I had to record in a bad room so I thought this would help. I was never happy with it. Tried several different mics in different locations with no success. Always sounded thinner especially when layering vox. I have had better success with a couple thick blankets around the vocalist. Just my experiences I know others have liked it.

It won't do anything for the low end. In fact it works for some things some times. We have one somewhere in our storage room.

Actually if you have proper low end control in the room the using blankets can work. Not the greatest put will work.

I learned that simple orientation can make enormous differences. I knew it would change but with everthing else equal and just moving my desk from one wall to the next made massive improvements. We do have some but not enough trapping and treatment. The SE contraption was more of a conversation piece than a useful piece of gear. It could be me but I could get better results with the afforementioned blankets.

Just last weekend I recorded a local band here in Atlanta in my OFFICE (actually front lobby of the office). I was pretty amazed out well our panel trap worked. If your going to be doing vocals all the time it might be worth your while to build something like it. Hell it can act as a bass trap when not in use.

Now is that just one of them? I was thinking about buying one of these from you and if they are that big for the $300.00 price, I am going for it!

That is 3 of them. I will say since I own the place I could do a bit over kill on it, but 1 will work but 2 will start give more of a true booth feel.

edit: The girl is not included.
