Roxul for bass traps?

hey guys I currently have a massive bass control problem in my basement and I need it fixed. Ive been looking at building my panels cause it seems cheaper. I was looking at this Roxul, but I have looked at some threads and seen Roxul rockboard 60, 80, RHT 80, and I do not know the difference.

Roxul - Roxul Safe'n'Sound for steel studs 24 In. On Centre - 250004 - Home Depot Canada

this is a link to a home depot and what they have, and I'm looking at that one thinking of buying it for bass panels.
Any advice would be helpful
THANX

Safe'n'Sound is suitable acoustically, maybe a bit on the light side for
thin absorbers, (and the price is right) but it is not rigid like the rockboard
so would need structure to keep it in place.

Thanks Paul,
yeah that is the plan to get fabrics and make a wood frame for it. I just didn't know if it was going to act like an absorber for low frequencies (even if I put two of them on top of each other).

The thicker you make your absorbers the better suited the Safe'n'Sound will be, and the lower
the frequencies you'll affect.

oh ONE more question.. I have read about fabrics to cover the insulation. Theres a video saying to use one cheap fabric (for the back) and a nice fabric for the exterior (the part that will be facing out). I've read about felt, and burlap...are there any others? I've also read about if you blow on it and air goes through it's suitable.. so any tips on fabrics (preferably sort of cheap lol) would be awesome

Cool... it seems Safe n' Sound and Ultratouch might be suitable for a table project I'm thinking of... it needs to be short since I am planning it for a corner where there's a window ledge. The cube space that would house the absorptive material would be about 18"Hx17" to 24"Wx12" to 15"D... Do you guys think this will work? Given the low height of this still-conceptual project, do you think it's even worth it? Thanks!

Tha availability issue really pisses me off to no end.I get a direct link to sellers from Roxul website and ask for a price plus to ship to west coast. They can sell me AFB but not safeNsound.????????????????? It is still a lower cost over the ridged materials,so I'm gouing with 6 inch traps everywhere!thumbsup

I went to Fabricland and bought black Broad Cloth. It's the least expensive and looks great.

Multi Glass is a good supplier. Your comemnt about Rockboard being better without qualification is meaningless. How do you consider it better? Also, Rockboard is a series of materials, where as Safe N Sound is one specific product, npemally sold through a completely different supplier chain (construction contracting/home building), which has a significantly lower price.

Thank you everyone for the help much appreciate it.
and JBD: thanks for the tip, I went to Fabricland and they had a MAD sale, like a meter of broad cloth for $2.70. so I bought 16 meters

so in total I spent 200 dollars and here is all that I bought:
  • 2 roxul 24 in. (makes 8 if you stack two on top of each other for 6 inch depth $70)
  • wood (ten pieces, each 2"x3"x8'= 1.77 each piece at home depot.. even though I would have to have bought 11 or 12 pieces to make 8 panels, but thats another 4 buks..)($20)
  • staple gun ($30)
  • screws (8x2- 100 pack for $10)
  • 16 meters-Broad Cloth-black: $50
  • 1/4 in. Staples for T-50 staple gun: $10
So, if you already have a staple gun, it'll be even cheaper, especially if you get a deal with the broad cloth or any fabric that you choose.
ps. this equipment is for this style:

This video says to get a cheap and nice type of fabrics. Because of the deal I got I can use the same fabric for both outer and inner side.
