Is micro trapping effective?

Would using lots of very small traps be as effective as fewer but larger standard sized traps, if in both instances they roughly covered the same amount of corners and were of equal thickness? (though obviously the smaller traps having additional gaps between them that the larger traps wouldn't have).

Or does the absorbing material need to be consistent over a larger area to be effective.

Something I've been wondering about in rooms where placing 4 foot traps aren't possible because of shape/unnmoveable furniture etc etc...
