Isn't Fiberglass Fabric the ideal Fabric to use for traps?

Since fiberglass' NRC score is so high, why don't companies use fiberglass fabric instead of the usual burlap & micro suede for panels?

Because the amount of absorbing fiberglass present in fabric is too small to matter.

I think that fiberglass fabric would be to rigid. The key is to use fabric that lets the sound pass through it easily. You can use the "blow test", by holding it up to your mouth and blowing though it.

if it's not tested.. it's a theory

btw honeycomb nanotube technology should be looked into.. they say it offers 30% noise reduction
Institute of Nanotechnology :: View topic - Honeycomb Nanotube Material Offers Better Noise Reduction

I wonder if a "saser" (sound laser) can somehow help reduce noise

The parallel-channel model they're pursuing sounds like the super-simplified cell-structure models on which fibrous materials' pore shape models are subsequently based (with massive attendant complications).

Rather than waiting for "superalloy micro honeycomb using a nickel-base superalloy" or sound lasers, I think I'll stick with fiberglass for the time being.
