Leather Couch Bass Trap?

I am getting ready to invest in a Leater Couch for my Control Room. As I was shopping for couches, I realized that there were some big bulky couches available. So the question is..........

These couches are pretty heavy and stuffed with absorbtion material. Wouldn't these type of couches serve well for trapping bass?

Sorry if this is a crazy question but it seems logical to me

A big bulky couch will help contribute a bit to mid and high end absorption in your room. That being said couches do not have the density of something like 703/705 to really absorb much low end.

My mixes translate pretty good. The only issue I am really having is with bass. I have about 36 2" 2'x4' 703 peices in various configurations in the room. Mostly in the corners and some clouds and broadband absorbers. the corners are from top to bottom with 3 peices together to make 6" traps. I was thinking the couch would help with bass in the back of the room but I don't want it to cause a problem with mids or highs.

I could get a cheap couch with not alot of cushion and less bulky if its not going to do that much for base. I can save the money and just get a regular couch.

Its going to help a bit (in the mids through highs) but its not going to help anymore than adding a single 4" thick 2x4 703 trap. A single 4" 703 trap would cost way less than a couch so I would say get a couch for comfort and aesthetics and if you need more bass trapping double up those 2 inch thick traps to 4 inch thick traps. Hope this helps.

Maybe some smart businessman will see the potential of building a 'proper' bass trap sofa and market it.....

I'd be interested in something that traps bass and also can be used for other uses as well...

I'd be interested in a leather italian style one, thank you very much!

Yeah back corner traps are 6" of 703 with pink stuff stuffed behind that and from floor to soffit so 8' tall! The front corners are 4" from floor to wall. Clouds are 4", side traps are 4" and just a couple of 2" broadbands. Back wall is mostly aurolex and room is built to proper mode.

Well not trying to sell anything but we don't have a couch YET but we do have our pillar trap and table bass trap.

But with all of that said does ART count?
