Thread Starter | Questions about FRK and how to hang wall-to-ceiling traps
Hello, I'm currently treating a fairly small studio room (Height: 240cm, Width: 270cm, Length: 490cm). I'm building 14 bass traps in varying depths. My plan is to use 4 x 6" traps in the front wall behind mixing position. 3 x 2" traps for early reflections on side walls + ceiling cloud. 2 x 4" traps on wall to ceiling and the rest 5 in the rear wall + corners. Here's my question: I'm not using any FRK on the traps. Will the room become too dead or am I going to run into some sort of problems because of this? I'm planning to record vocals/acoustic guitar near the rear wall to placing frk there is not ideal. But what about the front wall and wall to ceiling traps? Should they be covered with FRK or am I going to be okay without? Another question: How do you mount the wall-to-ceiling traps? I tried to search but didn't find anything. Sorry if this has been covered already. Thank you in advance, - Sami |

Thanks Glenn! We got the wall-to-ceiling traps mounted pretty easily with hooks and cable ties. We set up 13 traps yesterday and we still have to put 2 clouds up since the room is so low. You can still hear a tiny slap echo which comes from the sound travelling between the ceiling and floor. But I think we should get rid of it once we put the clouds up and put a nice carpet on the floor + bring all the furniture in. I'll post pictures when we're done. |
