random question for an expert

I am almost done building my studio in the garage. All the walls have been insulated and I just had my ac vent installed. I've already discussed the items to be purchased from GIK acoustics and everything is ALMOST done. (thank god!)

Random question:

I was given 3 wooden pallets (like the ones they stock bulk items on at sams club/costco) by a friend who said "I heard these can be used in recording studios with some carpet over them!"..

Any idea what this guys referring to, and is it possible to have any sort of productive use out of these pallets in my garage studio?

I would not put carpet over them, but I guess you could stuff them with rigid fiberglass and put fabric over them to use as general decay in the room. Seems kind of like a PITA though. But needless to say just putting carpet really is not going to do much of anything.
