| Lives for gear | Low Ceiling Over Drums...
I have low ceilings in my drum room. Less than 7'. How should I go about treating the area above the drums? Absorbtion panels? Diffusors?

All the absorption you can comfortably fit. Not enough space for diffusion to work effectively

agreed. Above the kit use absorption. Further from the kit (like 5 or 6 feet) you could start to mix absorption and diffusion. If you want to play it safe then all absorption.

What goes down must go up. Investigate carpets. It's too simplistic to think about acoustic treatment only above an instrument a grown man whacks as hard as he can with a wooden stick.

| Lives for gear | Yeah I've already got a carpet under the kit. Just concerned with phase issue in the overheads at this point. I've got some auralex panels on the ceiling now but was thinking of replacing it with some OC703 panels.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm theory vrs practice not all rooms work the same, thrust me put some gobos around the drums (broadband absorbers) not too much, not too close Before you put ANYTHING on the ceiling , try to compare results (with and without) broadband absorbers - diffusers (you can build those yourself if you don't have money) or you can buy some broadband absorbers from GIK and some diffusors somewhere else |
