Thread Starter | Why do you only bass trap vertical corners??
Ok so I'm getting ready to do some bass trapping and what not, and I started to wonder why you usually only bass trap the vertical corners? An average square/rectangular room has 12 corners, but it seems like the main place to bass trap is the vertical corners. Or am I missing something? Does bass not reflect the same on horizontal corners, like between the floor and the wall or the ceiling and the wall? And if all corners are equal as far as bass build up goes, would it be possible to put all of corner bass traps on the ceiling, freeing up room in the room? Or do most people trap ceiling and floor corners as well?? Or am I over thinking?

I have bass trapping in horizontal corners too (in control room) ThomasJouanjean from acbp studios designed it.

The ceiling/wall interface is a good spot. My largest bass trap is over my control room window.

According to some of the most knowledgeable people in this area, there is no such thing as "too much" bass trapping. Personally I think angled walls along with bass trapping is the best way to go (if you can afford reconstruction |

| It really depends on the room shape, size and so on. But I will say if you put trapping floor to ceiling in all vertical corners it will help A LOT.

All corners are potential trap locations; but don't forget, the corners are not the only places for traps. You don't listen in the corners after all. They're a great place to start for a DIY project, but don't get tunnel vision.

In general, the more surface is covered it's better and since the ceiling/wall boundary is rarely of use, it's a very good candidate for installing bass traps. | |

Actually I like to cover there floor wall corners as you don't have to mount them and they can be used for other things like around a mike or so on. thumbsup
