| Lives for gear | Good bass trap frame?
I found this frame on another thread, and it seems to be a good design because it exposes so much of the material. And it be the cheapest ![]() One thing I wanted to know is if I have a trap with say a 4 inch depth, do I want to make the frame exactly 4 inches deep or should I make it a inch or two deeper and leave some space? |

I guess you could leave some space in the back, but you really don't have too.

I would go slightly larger than the 4 inches. It will look smoother if the bumps in the insulation are not showing through the final fabric covering. I encourage you to consider the commercial option. It is quite difficult and ultimately expensive to do this right in small quantities. DD |

Well, the cost of the wood to build the 9 frames is $50, and I believe the fiberglass is $150, and fabric and other parts maybe $25-$50 depending on what's on dale. That would buy me two bass traps. I understand time is money, and I'm sure mine won't look as nice as a GIK or RealTraps, but I have the time available to build them, and I'm sure I can make them look presentable. GIK and RealTraps provide a wealth of knowledge and I wish I could give them my business, but I'm kind of poor and spend $200 as opposed to $1300 to treat my room just makes more sense for me at the moment. And I plan on building 6 and 4 inch traps. |

I was going to hang them in the corners like is show on the GIK website. But that makes sense for hanging them everywhere besides corners. I was going to use rigid fiberglass. But I like the idea of adding some support on the bottom so it doesn't fall out! |
