question about treating ceiling...if really nec.

I've got the "acoustic 12"x 12" ceiling tiles... The stuff from the 70's...80's whenever. kinda the beige stuff on the inside (white outside) and can be easily broken by hand and about 1/2" thick. I guess kinda like an extra rigid 703.

But I have about 15" of attic insulation on top of that at least. There are only the "firing strips" ...as needed that they are nailed too. You definately can't walk on it in the attic.
My fears are that the ceiling is probably fairly reflective, but more than enough OK for bass trapping... I guess??

Anyrate... 2-4"thick 703 ceiling clouds in appropriate places still? Or am I wasting effort, with what's up there already?

You could try the tiles by standing in front of them and speak into the tile. If you can hear the reflection then DON'T use them for early reflection points.
