want to tighten up the response of this room with some mounted traps... carpeted room and something like 24' x 13' x 9.5.' on the larger side as far as bedrooms go, so its not toooo boxy sounding. but i definitely notice consistent problems at 130ish hz. was thinking of some framed, 4" rockwool traps as diagrammed. how does this look? in a room this size, will 8 traps put a dent in my problems or just graze the surface? how necessary might panels on the side walls be? also, can someone advise what might be the best solution for the ceiling mirror point at the mix position? diffusion or foam-absorption? its a drywall, flat ceiling. thanks! funny how someone made a model for this desk with a C24 and krks... haha. works for now. ![]() ![]() |

cool. yeah i was planning on covering for a RFZ. just didnt plot it. as for traps... you say this is an entry level treatment. aside from perhaps extending those corner traps down to the floor, what more would you add to this to make it "substantial" ? thanks! |

if you decide not to go for full corner then you have to adjust the height to speaker/ear level... you need some frist reflection panels to your left and right EDIT: I see... a window... put them on stands! Jonny |

Thread Starter | ![]() ![]() two side panels on stands, added traps to the ceiling reflection points. these wont be in this room forever, so i figured i'd build them to be as adaptable as possible to wherever i move next seem like a plan worth investing in? |

Thread Starter | ![]() hows this? the back wall is quite far from my nearfields. should i worry about diffusing at the back wall or is it far enough away that it has minimal impact on the mix position? also, i've attempted to place the mix position at ethan winers suggested "38%" sweet spot. off center a little bit on the X and Y. i am using Adam A7's and would like to one day host a sub in this room. do you think these bass traps will at least put me in the ballpark for being a justified sub owner? the A7's dont go very low. hoping that these bass traps can buy me a little bit of mileage out of the A7's alone for the time being. thanks to everyone for your input. i REALLY appreciate it!! |
