Horizontal mounting of first reflection absorbtion?

Would it be best to mount full-range absorbers horizontally (say, with a 4'x2' piece) instead of vertically if horizontal covers reflections to both sitting and standing positions?

It may increase the total area of the "sweet spot" at least for first reflections. It may, unfortunately not cover second reflections, for instance off of the front wall > floor > listener, or front wall > ceiling > listener, depending on room layout.

Just musing. Any thoughts on this trade-off?

Another thought -- mounting FRK 703 ceiling clouds at an angle to absorb bass, and bounce the high frequency to the back of the room? Better to use full range and just get rid of those highs once and for all?

Cheers!

Lightbulb

With the panels mounted to be taller, you can sit up or crouch down and not receive any reflections. Mounted to be wider, you can lean forward and back but not up and down so much. The ideal solution is two panels on each side to cover a 4x4 area.

Agreed a 4x4 area is really the way to go if you can.
