Just an studio and acoustic suggestion from my view

Hi I've been building my own studio for the last 3-4 months, and now my studio is finally at work. my room dimension is 3.15meters(width), 4.8meters(length), 3meters(height) slanted to 2.70meters.
subject:Drum room
here's a few ponters that I would give from my experience..
OK, 1st of all about studio construction..

1.it is correct that mass wins...more mass means more sound proofing..aiiit? I didn't quite follow this rule and guess what? I can still hear my neighbour's gay aerobic music cutting through my walls every afternoon..aaargh...sucks!!dfegad
2.when you are building a window in between rooms, make sure that the two panes of glass are at different thickness...aiiiiit? and preferably it is laminated, cuz mine isn't the laminated glass, and I can still hear sound coming through it, quite alot actually....better off just don't use these windows in my opinion now.
3.for the drum room= try to make the walls slanted...it helps with elliminating flutter echoes...

Ok,next ...ACOUSTICS...

1st of all I am a beginner at this category, but i know my ears don't lie!!
I did what I was sugested by all the experts at gearslutz, and I thank you all for really helping us all.

Here's what I did at the begining of my acoustic treatment of my drum room...I covered most of the surfaces with absorbent material, except the floor until I can hear no flutter echo. the ceiling was covered mostly with absorbent material, in my case it was all bass traps basically. ALL corners were covered with bass traps too.

Did a drum test and recorded it...used only one mic( over the drummer's shoulder ) and it sounded great, the attack on the whole drum set was awesome, I really loved the sound.....but it was just too dead, I can't hear the room sound...

So, I took out a few bass traps, and exchanged them with diffusers, I made about 15 of these guys, covered the vertical corners with diffusers, and experimeneted with placement of the rest of the diffusers(ceiling and wall) and put 5 diffusers on the ceiling, and now.....it is awesome, it i just the way I wanted it. Thanks to you all!!

Ps. just a tip to anyone whos building a new first studio and doing an acoustic treatment.....clap your hands alot and make sure the flutter is gone. if the room is too dead just add diffusers..

I will post some sound samples sometime soon. I'm still waiting for my At2020

peace

Yes, and this is what I've discovered too - even in a very small room a lot of diffusion really helps make the sound more open and natural.

Soundproofing a room is a lot more difficult than making it sound good. And far more expensive to correct. Thanks for posting your mistakes, so others can learn from them.
