Density (in PSF) of 3/8" wainscot panel board?

Does anyone know the density of 3/8" wainscot panel board?

I'm referring to the kind you find in 4'x8' tongue-and-groove boards at Lowe's and Home Depot.

They've got 3 plies total: 2 full plies and then the segmented top ply.

I need the density (in PSF) for some calculations. Thanks to anyone who can help!

That kind of thing varies so much that the only accurate way to do it is to weigh it.

4x8=32 sq ft x 3/8" = approx 12 cu ft. Divide the weight of 1 sheet by 12 and that will give you the density.

That can't be right??!! 32 sq ft * ONE FOOT equals 32 cu ft, so one INCH = 32/12 cu ft (2.66 cu ft if my calcs are right), so 3/8 gives ONE cu ft for your panel.

It is late here, but feel reasonably confident in my maths.

(will check in the morning tho!).

Doh! Sorry about that. Just ran the numbers real quick and took 3/8 of a FOOT instead of 3/8 of an INCH.

Sorry about that.

So, if the board weight 32 lbs, it's 1lb/cu ft. If it's 16lbs, it's 1/2 lb /cu ft.
