Rigid Fiberglass Corner Bass Traps

Hi,
Long time listener first time caller.
I'm hoping to fix the uneven bass response in my control room and came across the wealth of information provided by Ethan Winer.

I've opted to follow his suggestions as in:

Acoustic Treatment and Design for Recording Studios and Listening Rooms
figure 3A

where rigid fiberglass is mounted in a corner.
My confusion is related to the sealing or non sealing of the air cavity that the corner mounted fiberglass creates.
Does the fiberglass need to extend all the way to the ceiling and or floor? Or, can it be open at both ends or one end? If not can I cover the open space at the top and bottom with more 705?

What are the physics involved?

Thanks for your help,
Tim

There's no need to seal anything. Best is to run the traps from floor to ceiling. Second best is one 2 by 4 panel, centered about halfway up from floor to ceiling. With one panel you can just leave the top and bottom open. As for the physics, bass waves tend to collect in corners, and are reflected back out from the corner. So putting a thick absorber there forces the waves through the panel, which reduces their strength.
