Thread Starter | Bass Traps done and installed! (pics)
Hi! I've been working in a small studio for a while and I've been really struggling to get tracks to sound good. There's always been a lack of sub bass in the studio and the stereo image and "depth" has always been rubbish... The problem was that I didn't know about all theese problems. I've been eq'ing things to death trying to get the sounds that I want, and it wasn't until I read the DIY threads here that I thought about doing some measurements and build some bass traps.Man what a difference... I can't understand why I didn't do this earlier. I recommend anybody to get the tools out and fix your rooms before investing in any more gear! 12 4" bass traps. I have a asymmetrical room thanks to the pipes, so I had to concentrate on the ceilings and to get the room symmentrical to avoid the biggest nulls. I had to move the speakers next to the wall to get rid of the problems, and move my listening position forward, and it's all good now! Thanks a lot for the help GS! |

Hi, I read this thread and did the ones with a thin "frame". I got some nice dense rockwool and got the rest of the materials at the DIY store. How I built my bass traps... All in all, I think the bass trap ended up something like 35-40 EUR each. If you are going to build some, think about getting fabric with a little bit of stretch. I went for cheap cotton and even if you staple them really tight, they look like they'd need a bit of ironing. The sound specially the bottom end is great now, so it's worth the effort. |
