Facing (FRK) on which traps?

My room is something like 13'x15', with a approx. 8' foot ceiling.

I have monster traps in the corner (with newsprint as substitute facing.. but I can hear it doing it job)

I have a 4x4 6" deep cloud above mix position.

Side first-reflections points will soon have 3x4 broadband absorbers.

Front wall (behind nearfieds) has 2 bass traps, no facing (in line with speakers)

Question:

Rear wall I am going to put 4 or 5 bass trap panels (2x4 6" thick). Should any of these have facing on them to keep room from becoming to dampened, or do you suspect in my situation, the broadband absorption on the back wall is good?

I've got the mix cloud up, but since I will be tracking in the room (acc. guitar, horns, etc. etc.) I think I should put additional absorption on the remaining ceiling.. two, maybe three, 2x4 panels. Is that a good idea, and should I consider facing on them? Or leave them to absorb whatever freqs they can catch

Thanks for the advice. Because of what I've learned on this forum thus far, my recordings sound very pleasing.
Cheers.

I would not put facing on them if you plan on recording near them. ALSO MAKE THEM 6" deep.

Great idea but don't put facing on those.

I was tired last night --- ALL traps are in fact 6" deep + airspace!

Thanks for the answer, Glenn!

I'm also in a little dilemma when it comes to having to use the rear of my control room as an iso from my main tracking space.

I was thinking of keeping the corners (superchunk in wall-wall, 6" panels for wall-ceiling) trapped, and then using a mix of diffusion and absorption on the side and rear walls, possibly heavier on diffusion. Also will have a cloud above.

The room I'll be moving into is also carpeted, so I was going to get a few large cuts of wood and stain them (for decor), and lay them down next to eachother on the floor whenever I need to track back there.

I was also thinking about using FRK like you, but I'm thinking this might be a good choice instead, considering my room dimensions work out nicely!

good luck!

Yes, I was wondering about having a couple plastic office chair mats or something to lay out when needed for tracking since my room is also carpeted.

Could someone elaborate on the theory of why this is or isn't a good idea?

Obviously, it would add some bright reflections for acoustic guitar, etc. -- if this is a good thing, then why would it not be good to have facing on the nearby bass traps, is that not similar effect?

Well let me clarify by saying you CAN have facing but to play it safe non facing close to the mic will take away any kind of comb filtering you might get.
